"It Takes a Village" featuring Albert and Beatrice Tyson Mural

The Delray Beach Public Art Advisory Board commissioned the “It Takes a Village” mural to be painted in Catherine Strong Park on the I95 concrete sound walls to beautify the space and honor the unsung neighborhood heroes who watched over children playing in the park. The Northwest Southwest Neighborhood Alliance assisted with connecting PAAB Heritage Here Artist, Anthony Hernandez, with many neighbors who shared their histories and memories of the northwest and southwest neighborhoods. One resident told the story of Mr. and Mrs. Tyson who kept a vigilant watch over the park, allowing the children’s parents to feel a sense of safety in allowing children to play in the park knowing the pair was always watching.
